A Bus Full of Hope: Why We Need Your Help Now.
For many of our students in Mapapa Village and surrounding areas, the journey to education begins with a long, early morning ride. Our school bus — a generous gift from years past — has been our lifeline. It travels through dusty roads and remote villages, collecting children who would otherwise never make it to school. From as early as 5 AM, it makes its first stop in a village over two hours away, gradually filling with bright-eyed students eager to learn.
But recently, our reliable old bus has become increasingly unreliable. It breaks down often, delaying classes, putting children at risk, and threatening our mission to offer consistent education and meals. Mechanics have patched it up multiple times, but after years of wear and tear, it’s clear: what we need now is a new bus.
A new vehicle would mean more than just transport. It would mean safety, reliability, and restored peace of mind. It would ensure our kids arrive at school on time, every day, ready to learn and grow.
We’ve set a fundraising goal of $80,000 — this includes not only the cost of a new bus but also a year’s supply of fuel, tire replacements, and maintenance.
key reasons why Footprints of Hope urgently needs a new bus.
- Access to Education for Remote Villages
Our current bus is the only means of transport for children living in four distant villages. Without it, these students — some from over two hours away — have no way to attend school, leaving them without education, meals, or safety. - Frequent Breakdowns Risk Children’s Safety
The bus is now unreliable and frequently breaks down, often in isolated rural areas. This puts children at risk, causes major delays, and interrupts the learning schedule. - Interrupts Access to Daily Nutrition
Many of our students rely on school meals as their only food for the day. Without dependable transport, they miss these meals, affecting their health and concentration. - Costly Repairs vs. Long-Term Investment
We’ve spent months trying to maintain the old bus, but repairs are now a financial burden with diminishing returns. A new bus is a more sustainable solution that will serve hundreds of children for years to come.
